These are my poems. They are about life and death, joy and pain. They are about light, and they are about drama. Color is a driver and through color I am exposed. I am tied by my soul to the 17th century, to Rembrandt and Velasquez. Kathe Kollwitz and her empathy motivates my work and I channel it through Motherwell, DeKooning, and Deibenkorn. Though I consider myself a traditional painter, and my heart is tied to the Spanish school of the Baroque era, I have not turned my back on the lessons we learned in the 20th Century.
